Boys soccer shuts out Herkimer, 5-0

Marling scores twice as Cooperstown nets first division win

Senior Owen Marling scored twice and senior Janak Pandit had a goal and an assist as Cooperstown shut out visiting Herkimer in a Center State Conference Division II match Friday, Sept. 13, at Lambert Field 2.

Cooperstown outshot the winless Magicians, 24-7, with a 6-5 advantage on corner kicks.

Cooperstown senior Cooper Coleman had four saves, while Herkimer’s Russell Stapf had 12 saves.

Senior Riley Diamond and freshman Henry Averys also scored for the Hawkeyes, who led at halftime, 3-0. Sophomores Gavin Grady and Hayden Spencer had assists.

Cooperstown (2-1, 1-0) will play at Frankfort-Schuyler in a CSC Division II match Tuesday, Sept. 17.
