Coop girls take second at Section III Class C-2 track meet
Boys place sixth; Hotaling, Bradley win two events each, Jensen wins 800, Green wins shot put, two relays win
Senior Sophia Hotaling and junior Cooper Bradley won two titles each, and Hotaling also won titles with two relay squads as the Cooperstown girls placed second and the boys placed sixth at the Section III Class C-2 Track and Field Championships at Utica College on Tuesday, May 21.
Bradley won the high jump and the 110 hurdles.
Hotaling won the 100 and 200. She was also part of the championship 1,600 relay team with junior Annelise Jensen, seventh grader Claire Baldo and senior Olivia Murdock, and the championship 400 relay team with Baldo, Murdock and senior Grace Fuller.
Jensen also won the 800.
Senior Riley Green won the shot put.
The Hawkeye girls scored 106 points, just above third place Tully (103.5). South Lewis won the 12-team event with 123 points.
The Hawkeye boys finished sixth of out 10 schools with 38 points. South Lewis (138) won the championship, with Tully (106) placing second.
Other top female finishers were: Jensen placed third in the 1,500; Murdock placed fifth in the 400; Baldo placed sixth in the 400; junior Allison Swart placed second in the high jump; senior Charlotte Feury placed fourth in the pole vault; freshman Nora Craig placed fifth in the pole vault; senior Elizabeth Hughes placed second in the shot put and third in the discus; and Green placed fourth in the discus.
Other top male finishers were: senior Tanner Griffin placed fifth in the 400 hurdles; senior Cooper Hodgdon placed fourth in the pole vault and fifth in the 110 hurdles; the 400 relay team of Colt Bernard-Wood, Sonam Gyamasto, Ryles Sheldon and Jameson Gable placed fourth; and the 3,200 relay team of Hu Agostino, Owen Flannigan, Brendan Heavner and London Kinley placed fourth.
