Pandit scores twice, Gardner-Olesen has five assists in 6-1 win over Herkimer

Junior Janak Pandit scored two goals and junior Roland Gardner-Olesen had five assists as Cooperstown opened its season with a Center State Conference Division II win over visiting Herkimer on the Lambert 2 Field Friday, Sept. 8.
Cooperstown controlled most of the action and led 1-0 at halftime on senior Frank Panzarella’s goal.
Herkimer managed just three shots on senior keeper Charlie Lambert, who had two saves. Shane Mason scored for the Magicians, on an assist from Cameron Voce.
The Hawkeyes got second-half goals from Pandit, junior Cooper Bradley, junior Riley Diamond and freshman Hayden Spencer*, who scored his first varsity goal. Junior Owen Marling also had an assist.
Herkimer (0-2, 0-1) got six saves from Jayden Crandall.
Cooperstown (1-0, 1-0), which took 36 shots and had nine corner kicks, will play at Clinton in a non-division match Tuesday, Sept. 12.
