GIRLS SWIMMING
Two CCS program records broken at league meet
(Coach John Hodgson ran the numbers and checked the times and is back to spread the good news.)
Cooperstown varsity girls swimming had an incredibly successful night in Rome on Friday, Oct 25, coming in second at the Tri-Valley League Swim Championships. It was a great effort from everyone; we had 26 entries, and 24 were either personal best or season best times. Two school records were broken!
One was a nine-year-old record in the 200 yard medley relay event, and the other was in the 100-yard breaststroke, set in 2023.
The record-breaking medley relay team consisted of senior Jaina Bischof (backstroke), Milford sophomore Emily Kane (breaststroke), junior Caitlin O'Sullivan (butterfly) and senior Pauline "Polly" Kennedy (freestyle). Their 2:01.03 was fast enough to beat the 2:01.95 time set in the fall of 2015 by superstars Megan Kern and sisters Delilah Griger, Tessa Griger and Eden Griger.

In the 100 yard breaststroke, Milford sophomore Emily Kane came in hot with a 1:08.25 finish. This achievement was a personal best time and a golden ticket to the New York State swim championships, a.k.a. "States." Emily bested her CCS school record of 1:09.59, set last year at Section III State Qualifiers.
Congratulations on your incredible accomplishments!
