Cooperstown’s run to a 2023 section title in softball also produced top honors for several Hawkeye players. Pitcher Dani Seamon and catcher Katie Crippen were named to the All-State team for their efforts.
Seamon, who graduated Sunday and plans to play basketball and softball at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, was named second-team All-State. She set five school program records this season: career batting average (.468); career doubles (21); career triples (13); stolen bases in a season (28); and stolen bases in a career (64). Seamon was third-team All-State in girls basketball this year, leading her team to a section title in that sport, too.
Crippen, who has been a three-year starter for Cooperstown, despite just completing her freshman year, was named third-team All-State. She set three school program records this season: hits in a season (48); RBI for a season (43); and doubles in a season (17).

Seamon was also named Player of the Year for the Center State Conference Division II, which the Hawkeyes won with a 9-1 record. She also won that honor in 2021.
Seamon was joined on the division team by Crippen, as well as seniors Jeana Geertgens (second base) and Savannah Kirkby (third base). Junior Tori France (short stop), junior Sophia Hotaling (center field) and sophomore Brenna Seamon (first base) received honorable mention status.
Cooperstown finished the season 17-3. The Hawkeyes won their third Section III Class C title in program history, topping Port Byron, 4-2, for the championship May 31, in East Syracuse. The Hawkeyes lost to Thomas Edison in the Central Region Championship, 6-1, in Endicott on June 2.
COOPERSTOWN SPORTS NEWS NEWS!
First, I want to thank everyone who has made this effort a success the past two years. I am grateful for the community’s support and for everyone who has subscribed to this platform. Special thanks to everyone who has voluntarily paid for the service.
With my son’s high school career coming to a close this month, I have thought a lot about what I want to do with this page in the future. While I do not have a long-term plan, I have decided to continue this service for the next year. It fits with my plan to serve as Booster Club President for one more year. It is also something I wanted to do for the class of 2024 and their families. We would spend every other soccer year with the younger players, and I would like to give them the same coverage and glory I gave to Aidan and his classmates.
For those of you who subscribe with monthly payments, as I did last year, I will send out a comp for the month of July and pick back up with billing in August. And we will see everyone at the school athletic meeting in August. In the meantime, have a great summer and thank you, again, for your support!
