Freshman Colten Larson struck out nine batters and allowed just one baserunner as Sauquoit Valley shut out Cooperstown in a Center State Conference Division II game Thursday, May 22, at Accelerate Sports in Whitesboro.
Cooperstown freshman Braden Rawitch was the only Hawkeye to reach base in seven innings, on an error.
Matthew Swiderski, another SV freshman, went 4-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI to lead the Hawks (8-7, 5-2).
Sophomore Brody Murdock took the loss for the Hawkeyes, striking out four while allowing nine hits and a walk, with five earned runs in six and a third innings. Junior Wyatt Butts gave up two runs in relief.
Cooperstown (4-6, 2-4) closes the regular season with a road doubleheader Friday, May 23, at Accelerate against New York Mills and then at Hamilton.
