Section III Class C Championships
The Cooperstown boys swim team won the 2024 Section III, Class C championship Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Nottingham High School in Syracuse
“Congratulations to everyone who swam with us this year,” Coach John Hodgson said. “We have not brought home a Section Title in swimming since 2015. Cooperstown finished with 374 points, with Weedsport (333) and Lowville (323) placing second and third.
The Hawkeyes placed second in a number of events: Thomas Hellenthal, Henry Ayers, London Kinley and Macon Aramini in the 200 medley relay; Macon Aramini in the 200 free and 500 free; London Kinley in the 200 IM; and Thomas Hellenthal in the 50 and 100 free.
Hodgson was named the Class C Coach of the Year, an honor he also received in the fall for girls swimming.
Several of the swimmers will return to Nottingham on Friday, Feb. 16, to compete in the Section III all-class meet.
