Tennis team clinches CSC division title
Softball tops SV; golf wins big over Herkimer; errors doom baseball team

TENNIS
Cooperstown 5, Sauquoit Valley 0
Cooperstown wrapped up a Center State Conference Division I title with a sweep of visiting Sauquoit Valley on Tuesday, May 7, at The Clark Sports Center.
At first singles, senior Isaiah George defeated Quincy Stayton, 7-5, 6-2. At second singles, exchange student Eero Aho defeated Bryce Petteys, 6-2, 6-3. At third singles, eighth grader Henry Ayers defeated Enzo Carbone, 6-3, 6-3. At first doubles, junior Alexis Wolfe and sophomore Bianca Adam defeated Layden Kravec and Gavin Ryan, 6-2, 6-3. At second doubles, seventh grader Alfred Hom and junior Owen Marling defeated Nathan Silchuk and Dawson Parry, 6-1, 6-3.
Cooperstown celebrated four seniors: Eero Aho, Nancy Dong, Isaiah George and Trey Hassman.
Cooperstown (14-0, 4-0) awaits its seedings for the Section III Class C tournament, which will be announced Thursday, May 9.
SOFTBALL
Cooperstown 23, Sauquoit Valley 6
Senior Tori France went 3-for-5 with two RBI and four runs scored as Cooperstown dominated visiting Sauquoit Valley in a CSC Division II game Tuesday.
Sophomore Jensen Merwin got the win, striking out nine in five innings, while allowing eight hits and six runs, four earned. She also tripled, scored twice and had two RBI.
After SV scored one run to open the game, Cooperstown scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first.
Sophomore Evie Baldo went 2-for-2 with an RBI and five runs scored. Sophomore Katie Crippen went 3-for-5 with a triple, three RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases. Junior Grace Sperry went 2-for-4 with there runs scored and three RBI. Sophomore Kayleigh Butler and junior Bella Reich each scored two runs.
Cooperstown (10-5, 5-2) hosts Westmoreland for a CSC DII game Friday, May 10.
GOLF
Cooperstown 171, Herkimer 231
Freshman Brayden Sentz shot a three-over 38 at Leatherstocking Golf Course’s front nine, par 35 as Cooperstown won a Center State Conference East Division match Tuesday.
Steven Naegle shot a 46 to lead Herkimer.
Senior Charlie Lambert (41), sophomore Jackson Crisman (44) and senior Colyn Criqui (48) rounded out the scoring for Cooperstown (6-2, 3-0), which is at Old Forge for a CSC non-division match Friday.
BASEBALL
Sauquoit Valley 11, Cooperstown 6
Sophomore Brenin Dempsey went 3-for-5 with a double but errors costs Cooperstown a Center State Conference Division II match with visiting Sauquoit Valley on Tuesday.
Freshman Brody Murdock took the loss, giving up eight runs in four innings.
Senior Frank Panzarella went 2-for-4 and senior Kalen Dempsey doubled for Cooperstown (7-7, 4-3), which hosts Westmoreland for a division game Friday.
