Tennis wins opener at Sauquoit

The Hawkeyes opened the tennis season Thursday, April 3, with a Center State Conference Division I win at Sauquoit.

At first singles, freshman Henry Ayers defeated Bryce Petteys, 6-0, 6-2. At second singles, senior Owen Marling defeated Vitaliy Chmuhh, 6-1, 6-2. SV got its only win of the day at third singles, in a battle of eighth graders, as Owen LoGalbo defeated Alfred Hom, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8).

At first doubles, junior Bianca Adam and senior Lexi Wolfe defeated Connor Hunt and Nathan Silchuk, 6-0, 6-4. At second doubles, sophomore Hayden Spencer & eighth grader Micah Raffo beat Gavin Ryan and Shawn Wood, 6-2, 6-1.

Cooperstown (1-0, 1-0) hosts Holland Patent for a non-conference match Friday, April 4.
