Junior Mia Pelcer returned from a knee injury and dominated the net with six kills to help host Cooperstown take down Owen D. Young/Richfield Springs, 25-12, 25-10, 25-20, in a Center State Conference non-division match Monday, Dec 9, at Red Bursey Gymnasium.Â
The Hawkeyes controlled the first two sets, then battled with the Wildcats for the third set. ODY/RS kept the score close until senior Emmy Lippitt had a six-point serving streak to advance the Hawkeyes to 17-10 in the third set. Cooperstown then pulled through, with junior Kayleigh Butler advancing to match point on an ace.Â
Pelcer, who missed the season opener, also had one ace, two blocks and five digs.
Senior Alexis Wolfe had two aces, 15 assists and two digs. Senior Emmy Lippitt had three aces and one assist. Senior Grace Sperry had one ace and two kills. Senior Sophia Badgley had two kills. Senior Alissa Thayer had one kill. Junior Marie Falso had one ace, four kills, one assist and four digs. Junior Jensen Merwin had five aces and 16 digs. Junior Kayleigh Butler had three aces and five digs. Junior Chloe Jubar had three kills. Junior Emma Green had one kill.Â
Cooperstown (2-0, 0-0) will go on the road on Wednesday, Dec. 11, for a CSC Division II match against Westmoreland (1-2).
