Volleyball sweeps ODY at home
Girls win basketball game at Poland; bowling continues strong start

VOLLEYBALL
Cooperstown 3, Owen D. Young 0
Senior Sophia Hotaling had 28 digs, senior Violet Gentles had seven kills and junior Mia Pelcer served five aces as Cooperstown won a Center State Conference non-division match, 25-18, 25-7, 25-22, at Red Bursey Gymnasium on Friday, Jan. 5.
Hotaling, playing some out of her usual libero position, also had five kills, including the final point in the close third set.
Pelcer also had five kills and four digs.
Gentles also had seven digs, a block and an ace.
Senior Ava Lesko had six digs and three aces. Junior Alexis Wolfe had two aces, two kills, eight digs and nine assists. Senior Lucy Hayes had 15 assists, eight digs and three kills.

Cooperstown (7-1, 4-1) will play in the Mount Markham Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 6.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Cooperstown 47, Poland 22
Senior Rory Nelen had a game-high 17 points as Cooperstown won a Center State Conference non-division game at Poland on Friday.
Cooperstown led after one quarter, 15-7, and that was the most points the Tornadoes scored in any quarter. The Hawkeyes led at halftime, 31-11.
Nelen also had six rebounds, three steals and a block.
Junior Brenna Seamon scored eight points and had nine rebounds, nine steals and four assists. Senior Olivia Murdock scored seven points and had 12 rebounds and two steals. Junior Mia Kaltenbach scored seven points. Sophomore Katie Crippen had six rebounds.
Maddison Haver scored 14 points to lead Poland (2-4, 1-1).
Cooperstown (7-5, 2-2) will host Poland on Thursday, Jan. 11.
BOWLING
Cooperstown 5, Little Falls 0 (Thursday)
Senior Chris Pernat rolled a match-high 578 and a game-high 218 as Cooperstown won a Center State Conference non-division match at Little Falls on Thursday, Jan. 4.
Max Bucence rolled a 484 high series for Little Falls (2-3, 1-2).
Theodore Ritter bowled a 558, Anthony McCoy rolled a 548 and Keenan Murphy rolled a 514 for Cooperstown (7-1, 4-0), which is at Sidney for a non-conference match Wednesday, Jan. 10.
