Volleyball sweeps Sauquoit Valley on road

Cooperstown 3, Sauquoit Valley 0
Junior Mia Pelcer had eight kills, senior Sophia Hotaling had 27 digs and senior Violet Gentles had 17 assists as Cooperstown stayed undefeated with a sweep of host Sauquoit Valley, 25-21, 25-15, 25-17, in a Center State Conference Division II match Thursday, Dec. 14.
Pelcer also had four digs, an assist and an ace. Hotaling also had three kills and an ace. Gentles also had four kills and eight digs.
Junior Grace Sperry had seven kills, two blocks, two digs and an ace. Senior Jill Lifgren had four kills and four aces. Senior Ava Lesko had seven digs. Junior Alexis Wolfe had five kills, nine digs, 15 assists and four aces. Junior Sophia Badgley had five kills.
Cooperstown (4-0, 2-0) hosts undefeated Mount Markham (5-0, 2-0) in a CSC DII match Monday, Dec. 18.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Waterville 77, Cooperstown 46
Senior Charlie Lambert had a team-high 18 points, but Cooperstown lost a Center State Conference non-division game at Waterville on Thursday.
The Hawkeyes led after one quarter, 22-17, but were outscored in the second quarter, 25-2.
Hayden Dumas scored 28 points to lead Waterville (5-2, 1-1).
Lambert also had eight assists. Sophomore Cooper Coleman had nine points, freshman Brody Murdock scored seven points and junior Cooper Bradley had six points and six blocks.
Cooperstown (2-3, 1-2) will play a a CSC Division IV game at New York Mills on Monday, Dec. 18.
