Volleyball sweeps Waterville for 14th win
Green returns to serve for senior night, notches one ace

Senior Sophia Hotaling had 20 digs and senior Violet Gentles had seven kills and three aces as Cooperstown swept visiting Waterville, 25-13, 25-17, 25-10, in a Center State Conference Division II match Wednesday, Jan. 31, at Red Bursey Gymnasium.
Senior Riley Green, who injured her left knee in summer league and has missed all of two sports seasons for Cooperstown, was able to return to the court briefly to serve for the Hawkeyes, notching one ace during her rotation.
Hotaling also had five kills and an ace. Gentles also had eight digs.
Senior Ava Lesko had six digs, an ace and a kill. Senior Jill Lifgren had three digs, two aces and a kill. Junior Alexis Wolfe had seven assists, two digs and a kill. Senior Lucy Hayes had 11 assists and eight digs. Sophomore Mia Pelcer had 10 digs, three kills an assist and an ace. Junior Alyssa Thayer had three aces, three digs and a block. Junior Grace Sperry had three kills and four blocks.
Magnolia Schroef had four kills and two aces to lead Waterville (5-14, 2-6).
The Hawkeyes celebrated six seniors: Gentles, Green, Hayes, Hotaling, Lesko and Lifgren.
Cooperstown (14-2, 9-2) will finish the regular season with a division match at Sherburne-Earlville on Friday, Feb. 2.
